Living in the Aborska and Beartooth wilderness, I often witnessed elk herds moving up into this wilderness during springtime. One early morning, it started to snow and continued for several hours. As the storm began to break up, I quickly grabbed my camera and drove three miles down to where I had seen the Elk moving through every spring. Fortunately, I captured a herd under Pilot Peak that day, just as the storm broke over the peaks. I had been waiting and checking this area each spring for four years before finally capturing the perfect shot of the Elk under the peaks during a snowstorm. Living up in the Aborska and Beartooth wilderness, I would see elk herds move up in the spring into this wilderness. This one spring day, It had been snowing for several early morning hours. The storm started to break up! I grabbed my camera and drove three miles down to where I had seen them moving through every spring. I was lucky to catch a herd under Pilot Peak that day finally! Suddenly, the storm broke over the peaks; I captured these images. I've been waiting and checking this area each spring for four years before I capture Elk under the peaks with a snowstorm.
